Birth asphyxia prevention training at Nyarugenge District Hospital
Yesterday, W4H mentored a session at Nyarugenge District Hospital focused on strengthening maternal and newborn healthcare through refresher training and hands-on learning.
To address the leading cause of neonatal death in Rwanda — birth asphyxia — healthcare providers received mentorship on neonatal resuscitation, including effective bag-and-mask ventilation techniques and newborn assessment practices. The session also revisited birth preparedness, safe delivery practices, and comprehensive newborn assessments immediately after birth.
Through clinical guidance, demonstrations, and collaborative learning, healthcare providers continue building the skills needed to improve maternal and newborn outcomes across healthcare facilities.
