We for Health strengthens child and adolescent health in Rwanda
We for Health strengthens child and adolescent health in Rwanda
As an implementing partner, We for Health, alongside Uyisenga Ni Imanzi, and the University of Rwanda, joined Multi-Sectoral Consultations in Huye and Gasabo Districts on 27 and 29 October 2026, bringing together health centres, schools, and district leaders to build better, coordinated care for children and adolescents.
Led by Rwanda Biomedical Centre with support from UNICEF, the consultations are part of an ambitious project to integrate well-care visits across the life course, from preconception to late adolescence (19 years). Participants mapped existing services against WHO/UNICEF Well-Care Visit guidelines, identified gaps, and shared recommendations, including a proposed number of visits tailored to Rwanda’s context.
We for Health is proud to contribute to shaping a stronger health system for Rwanda’s young people.
Data for decision-making
Data is crucial for improving healthcare services and ensuring resources are used effectively. We focus on enhancing data collection, analysis, and use to inform decisions and optimize health interventions. By strengthening local health data systems and promoting evidence-based practices, we empower healthcare providers and policymakers to make informed decisions that improve health outcomes and guide future planning
Health System Strengthening
Building strong, resilient health systems is key to improving health outcomes. We work to
strengthen the capacity of local healthcare workers and service delivery systems by
supporting training programs, improving referrals system, healthcare policies, strengthen
leadership in facilities and ensuring the availability of essential medicines and equipment.
We aim to create sustainable and equitable health systems that serve all communities.
Digital Health
We are collaborating with Global Kwik Koders to digitalize healthcare tools that support
baseline assessments, supervision, and mentorship, aiming to improve service delivery and
monitoring.
Reproductive Health
We empower individuals, particularly women and adolescents, to make informed decisions about their reproductive health. By improving access to family planning services, sexual health education, and maternal care, we work to reduce reproductive health challenges such as unintended pregnancies and unsafe abortions. Our efforts aim to create a healthier future by providing equitable and accessible reproductive health services to all.
Child Health
Ensuring the health and well-being of every child is a priority. We focus on delivering
comprehensive child health services, including emergency paediatric, management of
childhood illnesses such as malaria and pneumonia, routine immunization and nutrition
support. Through community health programs, we aim to reduce preventable deaths and
improve child survival rates, particularly among the most vulnerable populations.
Maternal and Newborn Health
We are dedicated to ensuring that every mother and newborn receives the essential care they need to survive and thrive. By strengthening health systems, providing skilled care at birth, and promoting essential postnatal care, we focus on reducing preventable maternal and newborn deaths. Our approach includes community-based interventions that promote safe pregnancy and childbirth, improving health outcomes for mothers and babies across Rwanda.
